Senior Systems Administrator
Location: Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Reporting to: IT Systems Manager
About the role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Systems Administrator to join our growing IT team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining, enhancing, and scaling the technology platforms that support our business operations.
As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will work closely with internal stakeholders and technical teams to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our core systems. You will act as a key escalation point for technical issues, helping to drive continuous improvement across our infrastructure, integrations, and business-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities
Platform Management
• Monitor system performance, availability, and platform health across business-critical applications.
• Support platform enhancements and coordinate with development teams on system improvements.
• Manage ecommerce and business system integrations, including payments, shipping services, applications, and product data updates.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues relating to orders, customer accounts, and checkout processes.
• Maintain integrations between the Trade Portal, Shopify, Sage, and other connected systems.
• Ensure accurate data synchronisation across platforms and resolve integration issues promptly.
• Liaise with third-party providers and technology partners when required.
• Implement validation checks and proactively identify and resolve data discrepancies.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and role-based access controls.
• Maintain approval workflows, access governance, and audit compliance requirements.
Incident Management
• Act as the primary escalation point for platform-related issues, including pricing, ordering, access, and integration challenges.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative measures to reduce recurring issues.
• Coordinate system releases, testing activities, and rollback plans where necessary.
• Maintain clear technical documentation and minimise disruption to business operations.
Security & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with company IT policies, GDPR requirements, and security standards.
• Manage backup procedures, authentication systems, and disaster recovery processes.
• Support audit readiness initiatives and maintain security best practices across all platforms.
Skills & Experience Required
Technical Expertise
• Shopify administration experience is essential.
• Experience supporting SaaS and bespoke web platforms.
• Strong knowledge of API integrations and ERP systems, with Sage experience preferred.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python or similar.
• Strong SQL and database management skills.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• A proactive approach with strong ownership and accountability.

• Ability to prioritise multiple projects and manage competing demands.

Qualifications
• Minimum of five years’ hands-on experience in systems administration, network administration, or a similar technical role.
• Practical experience working with REST APIs, including GET, POST, and JSON-based data handling.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals certification is desirable but not essential.
