Our Journey to Sustainability

Why ISO 14001?

In 2015, we retained accreditation of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems. This accreditation supports us in improving our environmental performance through efficient use of resources and the reduction of waste.

  • As part of our effort to maintain this accreditation we conduct audits on waste segregation and employee awareness.

Maximizing Smart Technology

Logistics Department – In 2019, Homecare Medical introduced smart routes, a route optimisation software.

Finance Dept – In 2021, We introduced spindle document management system, this allows accounts payable to operate paperless.

Result Reducing paper by 10000 A4 pages a year

Switching to Solar

In 2023, we implemented solar panels on our distribution centre. In March we installed a 25kw system in our distribution centre in Kiltimagh.

Result The system has produced 12.477MWh in a six-month period and drastically reduced the buildings energy consumption from the grid.

The Move to Digital Working

Homecare Medical has a hybrid model of working where some staff can work from home during the week. Last year, Homecare Medical staff working from home days were 2662.5 days.

Result Saved 29.86 tones of Co2 saved from emissions.

Environmentally Friendly Products & Services

  • Dry Wipes (flushable), Toilet Rolls (septic tank friendly)
  • Disposable Urinal (single use and can be macerated), Disposable Bowl (single use and can be macerated), Disposable Kidney Dish (single use and can be macerated) , MIP - Laundry bags
  • Taking back packaging supplied with products along with electrical products when supplying replacements
  • Our rental service promotes multi use rather than single use.

  • We have donated medical supplies to our Ukrainian friends, this included core consumables to the medics and hospitals
